Ho…Ho…Ho, Holiday Stress here we go! With all of our modern-day conveniences, we’re more relaxed, happier and experience more quality time with our family and friends during this ‘most wonderful’ time of the year…right? Haha! Unfortunately, we often find ourselves with a laundry list of impossible tasks to complete in an already full schedule. Feeling overwhelmed is an understatement and often adversely affects our taxed immune systems and relationships. YIKES!
My advice…LET IT GO! This holiday season, try to focus on opening up to the peace and love that comes with simple pleasures. It’s okay to do less and enjoy more.
Try a few of my favorite stress- reducing, holiday-enhancing tips:
Keep it simple: Don’t stress about the gift exchange with your girlfriends, instead invite them all to your favorite little cafe for a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Enjoy the conversation, laughs and hugs. No clean-up necessary!
Reduce the clutter! Choose one special area in your home to make beautiful and meaningful. No need to go crazy with all the decorations. We’re no longer judged by our ability or inability to create the perfect holiday!
Stay present and enjoy the moment! When unexpected visitors arrive, offer your guests simple pleasures like a cup of warm tea. Break up a chocolate bar into your favorite trail mix and pour it all in a pretty bowl. Turn the holiday tunes on in the background and sit around the table chatting.
Play like a girl! Get a little exercise between holiday shopping and family obligations. This photo was taken at last year’s Powder Puff parochial football tournament. Something Faith had never done before. FYI: What a special memory for the girls.
Turn the cell phones off for an entire day! Now, that’s a hard one folks but often necessary for the reconnection we need with our family and friends. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Sing songs, pop popcorn, or take an unexpected walk along the beach.
MUCH LOVE AND LIGHT IS COMING YOUR WAY MY FRIENDS. Hope to see you around our beautifully simple little town of Encinitas.
